Can anyone tell me where the best place is to leave the camper for a couple of weeks while I venture up to
cape york.

Cairns and drive past this place every day. There are always a lot of Caravans/campertrailers stored there at this time of the year while the owners are travelling about
Cape York.
I think that you will find that the park is one of the best in the country.

I agree with BJ why not take it, as long as you let your tyres and take it easy you be able to go everwhere on the cape. I towed one all the way up the Tellegraph Road including down Gunshot which a number of easier alternatives.
