there arent too many questions abou tthem on here so the ones that are on here have been on here long enough to go into archives, along with every other thread after a certain few months...

All threads are archived after 30 days, as this seems to be the max amount of time for which we get replies to topics. I also believe it is better to start a new thread with your question to gain input from new readers or get updated information on the topic in question.

If people think we need to keep threads open longer please provide your input and we will evaluate the options.

One other reason is that people's email account go stale after a period and the system could starts sendng a lot of email to accounts that are no longer in operation. It all depends on how log we keep things active and is one of the reasons for the current 1 month setting.

Hi Davaid,
With regards to archives, how do we limit search's to more modern threads?
Is there a way we can start with more recent threads first and cascade to older one instead of getting a sort of mish mash?

I am actually working on the forum search system. It is not finished but will help sort out this issue. For now just specify a start date say within the last month - thus you will only get current threads. The current search system uses rank and hit count to arrange the output so it should give the best match first even if it is old. So to get rid of old just use the start date.
