Hi all,

I have just installed a small modification to the Forum Search. In the past the search results were based on Rank and Hit Count. So the most revelant post regardless of age was displayed first.

The change I just made changes the search results to Updated, Rank and Hit Count. So the most recent result containing your search will be first regardless of how revelant the result is. if there are multiple for the same day then the results will be appear in rank and hit count order.

Do you prefer this or the old way? Whould you prefer it some other way?

Great idea David.

Last week I did a forum search on a campsite, and was making some notes only to find it's from 2004. Still great info but a little dated. This way I get the new stuff first...

Monday I have Friday on my mind...

Hi Kiws Kia

I use the free spell checker ieSpell. I can just right click on the text, be it on a thread, a member message, or almost any text being entered on an Internet site, and it checks and suggests options. Limitations of course due to US spelling, but it has an Add button so we can add the word spelt our way.

The only one it doesn't work on this way is the caravaner's forum. However clicking to the lower right just outside of the text box works.

I just need to remember to use it more often!

Upgrade to Firefox and you can have several flavours of English dictionary for its spell check. I have installed the English (Aust.) in my Firefox and it picks up my mistakes.

Ah, that's great David, I always had problems finding the latest threads on the subject being searched. I often wondered why it was set up like it was.

Well done

Cheers

I think it's better that way and what most people expect the search result to do i.e most recent.
The other way has always been a little frustrating especially if I'm looking for something in a recent post I read. Now I don't really need to fiddle with the From and To date fields, unless I want to narrow the search down for some reason.

Good move thanks David. Lately i have found the search not that effective, so this will be a welcome change.

David, didn't you have a search by person posting thread button as well as by thread number or content? This was useful as often i can recall who initiated the thread i am seeking, but not enough of the content to fine down the results.

You can enter the screen name into the text box for the search - this works. As for thread number it is still there in the Post Find option - just put in the post number and you will be taken there.

Hope this helps.
