Has anyone been to Cooper Ck recently. Next week (25/6/03) we are heading up the Birdsville track from Adelaide (our first time) and eventually on to Burketown. My query is - Is there currently water in the Cooper Ck? We want to try a bit of fishing there, also is it passable.
Many thanks
Robbo.

Yes I was there last week, Innamincka & Coongie lakes.
The water level is below the causeway at Innaminka so the creek has effectively stopped flowing, there is fishing at the waterholes but did not try it. You should have no problems on the Birdsville track unless it rains very heavily.

Was there 3 weeks ago and the river is flowing. Pipes take it under the causeway!!! The grunter are on the bite. Try fozen prawns from the trading post. Had a good feed and threw heaps back too.

Hey guys, you aren't sending these people up the wrong road, are you? They said they were coming up the Birdsville Track - there is a camp site at the Cooper Creek where it crosses the Birdsville track, but alas no water. There is water in Cooper Creek at Innamincka (and fish) and there is water in Cooper Creek at Windorah (and fish) but alas and alack, nothing where it crosses the famous Track. Did you realise that in 2000 after all the rain and floods this particular crossing is where all the water got to and it didn't reach Lake Eyre. Just a History lesson to go with the Geography lesson. Read the question!! Naughty boy, Happy Trails (but I agree with you).

Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess I'll just have to see when I get there, if there is any water.
Can't wait only 2 more sleeps to go before we hit the bush.

Regards
Robbo.
