Bonz (Vic)
Hi All, Th Family Bonz are off to experience the other side of this wonderful websites attractions - Caravanning!!
No locked hubs, no dust and crap between my teeth, I am not sure how I will cope.
A 6 berth campervan around the North and SOuth islands of New Zealand should tell me if I can cope or not. Might have to trade int he swag and camper it from these days forward.
Maybe even a
Kimberley Caravan like an Octogenarian here (actually he's only 60) and a T-Van who knows.
Have had LOTS of help from Ray an EO member and have three EO stickers for the camper so keep your eyes open if your floating around there in the next 2 weeks.

We are also leaving next Monday week, 17 days South Island only in 6 Berth Britz Motor
home. Will have EO sticker on it.
We are looking for rain and ice and green - I had a rain deprived childhood growing up in the
Pilbara.
Cheers
Phil

Hi all,
Just got back from 3 weeks in UnZud's South Island, had a fabulous time. Trust me, you'll get plenty of rain!!!
But don't whinge about it to the locals; they had a very dry January, and have got, and hope to get more bucketloads of rain since then.
Great place, even with lots of rain. Nicest part of the rain was the fjords, plus soaking in a hot pool at Hanmer Springs while it was bucketting down rain.
Was there too short a time to puck up an iccent.
cheers,
Gerry

Meant to add; watch out for those dreaded Keas up in the mountains! Saw a kea on the way to Milford Sound ripping apart a reversing camera on the back of a bus. Having a great time, it was! Poor camera was in shreds, and the bird pulled about half a metre of cable out of the roof before moving on to the next vehicle.

Hi Bonz ,
You will get a blank look if you tell any sheep jokes , as over there sheep jokes are always told
about us .
Don't talk about sport and you will stay friends with everyone . No sports jokes and don't mention rugby , netball or cricket .
You must go trout fishing if you get a chance - it's incredible over there .
Have a great time ,
Willie .

I was on another web site earlier in the week and a kiwi came on. All I said was G'day Sheep Shagger and he got all nasty on me. Told me to go experience sex and travel LOL. Must have been too close to the bone.
Have a good trip Bonzarelli snd for goodness sake don't break anything especially yourself.
Look after the lovely Marie as she especially deserves it.

Baaaa...off to Helen Click's country eh ? Noo Zeland. Beautiful scenery but all those big hills get in the way. No
population stress, they've all come here to work as used car salesmen in
Brisbane.
Only kidding, one of my mates runs 4wd tours on the South Island. Just watch out for Ozzi jokes...same as out Kiwi jokes but in reverse!
And bite your tongue when they tell you that anything worthwhile was discovered/invented in NZ or that it's owned by Kiwis.
I'm sure you'll have a great time :))

Bonz I presume there will be 4 of you travelling in the motor
home. We did 2 wks around the Sth Island over Christmas and New Year in a 4 berth and found it excellent. Heaps of power as well.
If there are more than 2 of you, what you may find is that the rear passengers will get travel sickness. We travelled with friends (they in their van we in ours) and they found that travel sickness was a real problem. Up side was that we had plenty of stops along the way to stretch the legs and take photos.
BTW food and booze is a lot cheaper than here and diesel fuel is about 30c a litre cheaper than ULP. Many shopping centres are open 24/7
We noticed that he only Motor
Home with forward facing bench seats like a car was Pacific Horizon, Kea, Maui, Apollo etc all had seating around the table.
Also some vans will only afford good visibility out of the RHS of the vehicle so rear passengers only get to see half the story.
Enjoy your trip. We loved our first experience of motor homing it and definitely will do it again.
Tip if you have a hand held UHF take it with you.

Have a fabulous time. Last September while we were rather warm out in the WA Goldfields, our son and d.i.l. with 3 y/o in tow, spent two weeks touring NZ. They didn't do the camping thing, but hired a car and stayed at pre-booked accommodation. I couldn't believe how much snow and ice they saw. Most of the time, the weather was good, with only one or two rainy days.
Enjoy.
This icy lake has a thin layer of ice holding the 'icebergs'. The three y/o was able to walk on it a bit before the surface
broke.

You will enjoy your trip over to little brother, especially the lack of humidity at this time of the year. Buy your booze cheap in the supermarkets, and stock up on industrial strength sandfly repellent for around the bush and the west coast. For free drinks in Canterbury province pubs, casually mention how great the Crusaders are doing in the super 14 without using words like seeks, eet, beet, shares, feesh & cheeps, ween, instead just mutter "moi oath" to everything.
cheers

Bonz.
Good to see Ray has been helping you with info. You may have already heard of a good camping ground, spots, etc book that is printed here. Go to www.nzcamping.co.nz for a look. The web site is a bit vague on site detail so you have to buy the two books (1 North and 1 South) to get the full info. I find them well worth the money, otherwise you can drive right past spots and never know they are there. Have a great trip and I’ll keep an eye out for those EO stickers. (central Nth Is).
