Bonz (Vic)
Hi All, Th Family Bonz are off to experience the other side of this wonderful websites attractions - Caravanning!!
No locked hubs, no dust and crap between my teeth, I am not sure how I will cope.
A 6 berth campervan around the North and SOuth islands of New Zealand should tell me if I can cope or not. Might have to trade int he swag and camper it from these days forward.
Maybe even a
Kimberley Caravan like an Octogenarian here (actually he's only 60) and a T-Van who knows.
Have had LOTS of help from Ray an EO member and have three EO stickers for the camper so keep your eyes open if your floating around there in the next 2 weeks.

Baaaa...off to Helen Click's country eh ? Noo Zeland. Beautiful scenery but all those big hills get in the way. No
population stress, they've all come here to work as used car salesmen in
Brisbane.
Only kidding, one of my mates runs 4wd tours on the South Island. Just watch out for Ozzi jokes...same as out Kiwi jokes but in reverse!
And bite your tongue when they tell you that anything worthwhile was discovered/invented in NZ or that it's owned by Kiwis.
I'm sure you'll have a great time :))

Bonz I presume there will be 4 of you travelling in the motor
home. We did 2 wks around the Sth Island over Christmas and New Year in a 4 berth and found it excellent. Heaps of power as
well.
If there are more than 2 of you, what you may find is that the rear passengers will get travel sickness. We travelled with friends (they in their van we in ours) and they found that travel sickness was a real problem. Up side was that we had plenty of stops along the way to stretch the legs and take photos.
BTW food and booze is a lot cheaper than here and diesel fuel is about 30c a litre cheaper than ULP. Many shopping centres are open 24/7
We noticed that he only Motor
Home with forward facing bench seats like a car was Pacific Horizon, Kea, Maui, Apollo etc all had seating around the table.
Also some vans will only afford good visibility out of the RHS of the vehicle so rear passengers only get to see half the story.
Enjoy your trip. We loved our first experience of motor homing it and definitely will do it again.
Tip if you have a hand held UHF take it with you.

You will enjoy your trip over to little brother, especially the lack of humidity at this time of the year. Buy your booze cheap in the supermarkets, and stock up on industrial strength sandfly repellent for around the bush and the west coast. For free drinks in Canterbury province pubs, casually mention how great the Crusaders are doing in the super 14 without using words like seeks, eet, beet, shares, feesh & cheeps, ween, instead just mutter "moi oath" to everything.
cheers
T.R.
