Hi All,

Happy Easter to all.

I have taken the plunge and bought a 99 4.2 diesel DX Patrol with 153,000km on the clock.

A couple of questions for the masses:

1. I am getting a pre purchase inspection done and want to get a mechanical inspection done including testing the engine compression. Can anyone recommend someone in the Mandurah area that I can get to do this?

2. I want to turbo charge it and have done some research on the net. I have a fair idea of what I want (Turbo, 3 inch dump pipe and exhaust). It will be a daily driver and geared up for touring, towing a camper trailer (approx 1.2 tonne) including a bit of sand work.

Can anyone recommend any suppliers/installers in Perth who know their stuff?

Cheers and thanks in Advance for your responses.

Mark

As for a mech down your way,,,i got no idea. Try ringing either Central 4x4 in Welshpool and see who they recomend or ring Robson Bros and see who they reccomned.
As for the turbo stuff,,,,ring United Fuel Injection in Redcliffe,,,they are on the G.E.Highway near A.V.Trucks,,,,,speak to someone in the turbo section and go from there.
These guys know their stuff really well.
No affiliation etc,,,,just a happy customer.

Mark,

Our '92 Mav TD42 was turboed by United Fuel Injection in Redcliffe.
That was at 186,000Km and they were excellent to deal with. Injectors done same time. Car has now done 256,000Km with no problems.

System is DTS (now MTQ I think) which is a Mitsubishi water-cooled turbo and United recommended a prudent amount of boost - about 10psi from memory.
The pre May ,95 TD42 engines are strongest for turbo but they will advise you.
