Hi,

I have com from GQ coil cab 4.2 ARB turbo. i will not be towing, but have plans to do tannami and cape your etc.

was consdering to turbo down the track, or should i just settle for extractors and good exhaust system??

any coments greatly appreciated!!!

I think "settle" would be the word ;-)

Settle for a nice slow drive and enjoy the roses - unless you do the turbo, that is. But then adding turbo to a 315K specimen might add a few more complications that might slow you down.

Cheers
Andrew who has done most nothing other than normal servicing to his 1HZ.

My 80 series is a 97 model and has 240K on it so the vehicle you're looking at has done a lotta driving. Things to look at
Radiator
Clutch fan
Clutch
Brakes
Suspension
Steering box leaks
Wheel bearings
Gearbox whine/sloppyness indicating a rebuild
Electrics

I have a 60 series with only a few more kms, 2h motor with extractors, has been known to drag a gu 4.2 turbo and win. you could save a heap of $$$ and spend it on the goodies

Jeez ! if that's how quick the stock 60 2H is over a GU Turbo buy my 60 with a aftermarket turbo. Always thought it had a bit of go in it & only a genuine 255,000 K's. Leaves my mates 2H auto for dead. You will have a "Rocket Ship".

We found a 100 series the same sort of KM a while ago...ex telstra...so everything, you would assume, would have been fixed if there was a prob while they had it.....but yours is a private sale by the sounds of it. I guess the typical oil leaks and gear box noises and whether the clutch slips etc.

good luck

We have a 1999 std LC100 in our fleet that has nearly 300k on the clock now. They have been hard kms on mines and poor gravel roads with about 80k in the Pilbara on diabolical tracks. The engine is still very strong and has never suffered any significant failure. Radiator replaced, front CV's replaced, brakes rattled apart several times, replaced suspension and steering damper, front and rear lights vibrated loose several times. The gearbox has had a whine in it for about 60k now but hasn't failed yet.

Not bad at all for the hammering it has taken. All we do is service every 5k, give it a good lube/grease and a good check for loose bits and pieces. Loctite the loose bits as you find em and they seem fine after that.

I thoroughly recomend replacing the suspension and steering damper even in a brand new LC100 as this has an incredible improvement in handling.
