I recently bought some rubber matting from clark rubber with a checker plate pattern on it to put in
the tub of my twin cab ute & also made a couple of foot mats for the front. Works great & looks good (in my opinion)
But....... a week or so back I blackened the one in
the tub with tyre black, let it dry & stuck it back in. Trouble is it is just a smidgin sticky.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what would be a better product to blacken it next time. Thanks

Not all that helpful on blackening rubber....nearly everything I can think of will scuff off or remain tacky.
Just a comment on
the tub mat....I got the perforated one that lets moisture out...otherwise it traps it in and can accelerate rust!
My tub was good structurally but it was badly surface rusted. So used the rust converter and then applied a VERY thick coat of under body deadener to
the tub and put a rubber mat in.
Looks great and is very durable and if it wears through the deadener I can just re-apply in minutes!

Thanks Matt, yep you are right about the moisture, never thought about it the time of purchasing. Why the under body deadner under the mat?
My objective is to have something that protects the tray and at the same time stop things from sliding easily on the steel surface.

Baz the tray had quite bad surface rust from gear being left in the rear and sliding around unrestrained by the previous owner. After the kill rust did its job it turns the bare metal black so I had a very bad looking tray despite the rust being converted.
The deadner looks great (all black not a mix of white, red and black)and prevents the converter coating from scuffing again and effectively seals the tray for life!
So if I scuff it again I just reapply and Im good again!
All the best
