I asked about them a few months back and bought one from a Camping Store.

It was cheap, looked cheap and performed cheap. Chit itself after about two weeks.

I'm happy to pay a fair quid for one that will last, but the only thing I can seem to find is made in the dodgiest Chinese sweat shop made out of recycled beer bottle tops.

I want to use it with Citronella mix as a mozzie deterent. Any suggestions are welcome.

Jim.

Jim,
You may have to chase one up through antique and/or second hand shops.
The "real" ones have become a collectors item with the inner city social set.
(I suspect they think that if there are a couple of these things hanging in their tiny little courtyards, they have a reminder of how it used to be.....Wouldn't know how to light one up but they do add ambience.) With tongue in cheek .....just a little bit.

As a result prices for genuine "Hurricane" lanterns have hit the roof ($150.00 up) and they are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse stuff.
Just keep looking, go to farm clearing sales and hope for the best.

Disco..

You idiot jumbo.

You know as well as I do that the versa lite or copy of, is the way to go.

Electricity man! why go back to the dark ages.

Now if there is mozzie, gnat, moth, fly or two bothering you then buy a can of RID and will be sweet for ever more.

Hurricane Lamp! - here I was thinking you were and educated person, albeit that you drive some mix-mash ford thingy and live in the 'sticks'.

Since leaving the big retailer you have gone potty.
