Just bought a Prado GXL, 90 series, 1997 model...
Great car, 160.000 kms, V6, auto, tow bar, good tyres etc.
fully stamped service history every 10.000 kms by Toyota dealers.
Paid $3750 and it actually goes!!!
Now, has anybody got any accessories that suit my budget?? I'm after a good bullbar, winch maybe, full roofrack, ladder maybe, lift kit, roof tent maybe, bigger tyres, weather shields for the windows? anything considered to make it better equipped.
Let me know if you have anything.
Must be within my budget though!!!
Thanks

Save your money for fuel.
You don't need all those accessories to weigh down the poor Prado.
Cheers

I wouldn't put too many accessories on it yet, for that price are you shore the police aren't going to come looking for it.

With lifted springs and 265/75 tyres, you'll be cruising. Beware about making it top-heavy - roof is only rated to 75kgs, so don't get a steel roofrack - the aluminium Rhino racks and the baskets go OK on the 90series.
Fuel consumption is usually very good on trips - most get about 13-14 l/100k at 100kph. But they chew through the juice at crawling speeds.

Yeah, it doesn't seem overly thirsty after driving 600 kms back from the Central Coast pick-up point to
home base of Evans Head.
And it's got the twin tanks too, so i'm still driving now (900 k) after filling it up.
anybody knows how much it holds??

ps, it's actually GREAT on fuel, compared to mo other rig the U1700 Unimog for sale here on TRADER...
(hence the user name UNIMOG)
That beast chews thru 30/35 ltrs per 100 kms, of expensive Diesel that is too!!

If l left the roof racks off and stayed around 90 - 95km/hr I got below 11L/100 - 10.8 to 10.9 on my 90 series, though that was a 2000 model running premium fuel and there is speculation the model changes to the something to do with measuring timing in my later model enabled it to tune itself to higher octane fuels, what I'm saying is drive gently and below 100km/hr and you will get the fuel consumption down, and premium fuels won't allegedly assist the 97 era model.
Also, I found pradopoint pretty unhelpful, I found their bias is toward 120 series owners and people with caravans. however the yahoo 90series club has incredible resources for everything, such as what I was raving about above.
