To the caravan owners, which park should I stay at in Longreach?. Intend staying three or four nights. Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers, Nev.

Hi Neville,

We stayed in the Gunnadoo c/p it was OK clean and up to date.
Only thing both times we stayed the kids were a bit P/O the spa was out off order both times.
But would stay there again.

There's a big one on the right, as you leave town heading east - [ Gunnadoo Caravan Park and Cabins - 12 Thrush Road ] - the rates were "up there" but it was of a high standard overall - and pretty close to the Qantas museum and the Stockman's Hall of Fame.

There is a great 'free' camp down by the river on the North side of town. Just a few minutes from the Hall of Fame and Qantas, but away from the noise of planes going overhead at Gunadoo. Great fishing and great atmosphere.

G'day Neville

We checked them both out last year and opted for Gunadoo. It's walking distance to both the Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum, and there was entertainment around the campfire at night. There were the usual stories around about the free spot being a bit dodgy in terms of visits from loud locals and whilst it's by the river, it's a ways out of town and the town attractions are generally what you are there for. There are some sites with a bit of shade, and green matting laid down, but most sites are in the open.

Have a good trip
Cheers
John

We were in Longreach last June - and stayed at Gunnadoo - great spot - they were extending the place - putting in some en-suite sites I think, as well as what looked like a community room and some more cabins - but all in all a pretty goods spot - walking distance to Hall of Fame and Qantas museum - for a meal try the RSL club - not bad at all - the bakery in town is pretty good and very popular. The spa was working when we were there.
