Not really trying to start a tyre war (lol) just after info on the above mentioned Kelly Safari's that are back on the Australian market (in particular the 'Trex')

I searched the archives but the last threads on Kelly's are years old, back about the time they stopped importing them.

Anyone tried them recently?

I still have a set of half worn Kelly Safaris stored in here. Replaced with BFG's but the Kelly's were just in case...
Thanks for that info. Mine were a good tyre for wear and general work around town and track.

Hi Footloose,
Congrats on becoming a member. I also had the Kelly safari's on my 4Runner when I bought it secondhand about 5 years ago. I was very happy with them but wore them out and couldn't get any more at that stage. Went to Mickey Thompsons and while they been pretty good I was interested to see the Kelly's back. Tyrepower have the Kelly Safari Trex (265x75R16's) in their catalogue for $265.00 at the moment.

Cheers
Kev

I have no idea what Kelly 4wd tyres are like but back in the 1980s and 90s I fitted two sets of Kelly street tyres to a Peugeot 504 and got 140,000 ks out of each set. I had no complaints about the way they handled either.

If the Kelly 4WD tyres are anything like the Kelly Chargers I used to have on my cars, then they should be a fantastic tyre - grip to the very end, very hard wearing - 80,000km min from a set and that was under very hard driving conditions

I had Kelly Safari's on my last Discovery. They were a brilliant tyre.

I recently tried to buy a set for the current Disco when the Michelin's needed replacement, but unfortunately they weren't available. Tyre Power told me that they were coming, but unfortunately not in time for when I needed them. Ended up buying GT Radial Savero's, which I'm happy with so far.
