Hi All, How would you like a Free 4x4 no strings attached ??????, now I have your attention, I thought of "Free Sex" as a topic but thought this would get more hits ??? I new I wouldn't get your attention if I asked about Fuel figures for a 80 series LC on petrol/gas !!!!!!!!!! My brother inlaw is new to 4x4'n and has just bought a 80 series LC on petrol/gas, next week we are planning a trip to the high country, (Before rain/snow sets in ??) nothing too serious to start off with. As I have only ever owned Diesels and have now idea about the fuel consumption of petrol/gas LC, I was wondering if someone could give me an idea how many KLM's we could expect to get 4x4'n on petrol / gas, has standard fuel tank 95ltr and gas tank mounted in spare wheel
well underbody not sure on capacity but I would imagine it would be a standard set up.
Your fuel figures will assist in planning where we can go. As I have long range tanks in my truck I tend to forget about distances on shorter trips. As stated I wouldn't know what sort of fuel figures petrol/gas return would hate to take him on his first trip and run out of fuel ???
All suggestions greatly appreciated

Bazza,
I had a 100Series cruiser V8 on a 4 day trip around
Tom Groggin and the end of the trip it averaged 30lt per 100km.
Other petrol vehicle have been around 25lt per 100km.
On gas you will not get the same liter per km as you would do on petrol.
I would tend to use the petrol first and leave the gas as a reserve tank. When you are able to get fuel fill the petrol tank. I don't think that there are too many
places that have gas for vehicles.
Also watch the gas tank on the 80 Series, they do tend to hang low and if the vehicle has not got a good lift it will drag the gas tank. I have seen a few gas tank guards that have been ripped of in the High Country.

Bazza,
We sold our 80 series on petty/gas last yr. they are great! We would normally get about 700km (safe figure) out of both tanks, loaded on tar roads.
Loaded on our desert trip (ie sand driving, bulldust, corrigation etc) we ranged between 19lt / 100km and 28lt / 100km. I can never remember how many km out of both tanks...just the economy!!
Just from the lpg tank 440km was the norm. during the week when she was a shopping trolley!!
if your going through hight country i cannt imagine that you will be more than 700km from filling up somewhere but you never know!
Hope these figures help.
