I think there is a difference between commenting that someone is a sucker and commenting on the part in question. Just my comment on the comments.

25 years of replacing C/V joints and driveshafts. The good ones last, the cheap ones don't.

Not e-bay!

You will get what you pay for.
I use a local reconditioner who also supplies new japanese joints. I have also found that bursons supply reasonable quality joints. Repco have both cheapies and good ones. Then of course there is genuine.

Most of the good ones have a 2 year warranty.

It is a pretty safe bet that the cheap ones are from china or korea. Look good, great sales pitch - crap quality.

Just had one of mine replaced. Toyota wanted $1000 for the whole unit for the IFS cruiser. Got a second hand one for $500. Mechanic got it from a wrecker but I don't know which one.

Are we talking about the CV's in a normal solid axle front end (which are actually burfield joints or the ones under the rubber boots on the front halfshafts on a IFS front end.
I would have thought that both should last the life of the vehicle if not abused, or boots ripped allowing crap to get in and the grease to be flung out.
In 30 years of owning Landcruisers I never replaced a burfield joint and in the six I've had the Humvee which has CV's on both ends of four halfshafts (eight in total) I've not had to replace them either and it is now over 20 years old.
I have had to field repair two boots staked by sticks (don't you just love sikaflex!) but they are all still fine with no detectable wear.

G'day Peter ,

I asked my 4WD mechanic the other day :

"What would you change at 150,000 klm on my IFS TD 100 , if you were relying on the car in some very off track situations in the
future and you were willing to pay the money to keep the car in 100% mechanical shape ? "

His answer was :

Control Arms
Injection Lines
Injectors
Torsion Bar adjust bracket
Timing belt

All Toyota parts .

Cheers ,

Willie
