Gday all,

Not sure if this is for real but perhaps a time will come when the need to carry tyre repair gear will disappear. A search of tweel on google will give you a look at the future or try the link below.

Yeah mate. It has been around for a while(since 2006 at least) and on this forum. But maybe newbies will be interested. Some eartmoving equipment already use a similar product. Not sure if the auto industry will take it up as it may put tyre manufacturers out of business.

no its not new but since this invention bmw has gone to run flat tyres with no spare in the boot, they were critisised a lot for this because ride quality apparently went down but if i pay 100+k for a new car I would think running over glass and slashing a tyre, then just driving home without a worry is a top idea. Also the tread will still need to be slipped off and on with normal wear.

Willem,

Not new I agree but the information I have just been sent from the US would indicate that we now have a fully fledged car tyre about to hit the US market.

A friend has a BMW with these wheels and he's not amused - did some minor damage to one tyre and it's unrepairable - and they are EXPENSIVE !

No not new. An uncle of mine had solid tyres on his car back in the 1920s
