Around the beginning of June my wife and I will be travelling into the Bungle Bungles. We have an off road wind up camper but feel we may damage it or the van may become a problem towing it in. I heard there is a place about 1km from the main road on the Marbel Downs station where you can leave caravans etc. Can you tell me is this correct? and if so, do I need to contact the station manager?

Towing into the B/Bungles is frowned upon by the Rangers,
We left our van an off roader outside the entrance in a small rest area about 500 meters away with many other vans for 3 days without any problems as there were many others doing the same. We also stayd in this area a couple of days resting/recouperating etc after and kept an eye on other vans as was done for us.

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

So what you are advertising Doug is that there are many caravans left unnattended for days at the turn off to the Bungles, free to good home ;-)

There are usually several vehicles parked there (not a bad spot). Nice people keeping watch while others visit the park and then you watch other peoples vans for a couple of days.

I've towed a trailer into the Bungles heaps of times with no trouble from the trailer or the rangers, I also seen heaps of off road wind up campers in there.

Cheers Steve.

Spring Creek is the place to prop. Just a few hundred yards past the Bungle Bungle turn off. There's always several vans there, and everyone keeps tabs on each others vans.

You could also consider leaving it at Warmun/Turkey Creek. The roadhouse there has a fenced storage area. A tip for Bungles campgrounds - we were there for a week last year. During this time, the "quiet" area of the campground (Kurrajong) was absolutely chockers with campers - all on top of each other. We were in the generator area - lovely and quiet and very few others! No noisy gensets, either!

Hi folks (rather than starting a new thread on similar topic)

Does anybody know the current condition of the track from Spring Creek into Bungle Bungles? I am curious about fuel consumption to get in and then back to Turkey Creek.

I recall seeing a photo of pretty much a track made of sand (or perhaps sand made into a track). I'd hate for range to be a determining factor in getting there.

Thanks
