Hi, wew're planning to go away camping next week with school holidays, we're located just outside Brisbane, we visited Girraween National Park a couple of weeks ago and that was amazing (highly reccomended!) - so we're just trying to find similar destinations, however, there are a few criterias - there needs to be a 4wd track nothing serious but about medium difficulty, no beach work (car hasn't been rust proofed yet), facilities for kids (i.e. swimming pool or play areas), must be located within 3 hrs of driving from Brisbane... I've had a brief look at Dirty Weekends book but we have been to majority of places in there...

HELP...I'm sure some of you have favourite secret destinations - remember, caring is sharing...

Andy.

I'll second that, nice place, good showers and flush toilets.
Due to the amount of rain they had last week while I was there its very green and the tracks "interesting".
Well worth a look.
About 2 hrs drive from brisbane.

G'day Andy

Goomburra National Park might be worth a look - about 2 hours from Brisbane, a selection of walks both from the campgrounds and off the track up to the lookouts. There are toilets but no showers in the NP camping grounds. There are also a couple of private camping sites just outside the park, but I've not tried these.

I like Imbil, The Deer Park has all facilities, swimming hole at the park, Dam 2k's up the road and 4wd tracks almost across the road from the park entrance. Ask for directions to "Big Red" if you really want to have a go and post pics of your efforts LOL!!!

The Park will be really busy (school hols) but tell me somewhere that won't be at this time of year.

Have fun Trevor.
