Doug, yes, but the road wanders around. Could be going west or east at times ?

If you've driven for too long ...BOTH ! :)) As you know it's mainly straight, but changes in direction from time to time. I've had the sun in my eyes a few times on that run...mind you it's not like the bottom trip across the sand where it stays there for hours!

Road trains are not scary, it the people in cars that don't understand them that are the scary ones.
I have driven them and I have travelled on the hwy with them, Just remember that if they are over tacking you don't move off the road as they will give you more than enough room, and once there passed flash your lights to let them know they can come back in, remember that if a road train is travelling at 100 kph, it will take you 1.2 km to over take at 110 kph.
Don't be scared of them be in awe of them.
Cheers Steve.

You will find some common sense in this link too , much of which the normal motorist just don't seem to get it to sink in.

Gday,
If you keep your car on your side of the road and give them a little bit.... its not an issuse. If your scared to drive past one Id question your own ability!!! They probably didnt even notice you!

Apart from all of the previously mentioned look out for fantastic scenery. Spend time at
Woomera,
Coober Pedy,
Alice Springs ( go both to the west and east as far as you can in day trips) ,
Barrow Creek is a must,
Devils Marbles, etc etc etc. Just enjoy it, it's great.

Uhhh..... Psycho drug runners near Ti Tea or
Barrow Creek...
I've only done Alice to
Darwin and the trip from Alice to
Katherine is pretty boring.... The highlight was
devils marbles at sunrise though.
Good Luck, Will.
