Hi all,

Could anyone give me any feedback on the Engle SHX-1000 generators? Are they a great deal louder than the Honda's?

Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I have an Engel and reckon it's not much different to the Honda noise wise. It's pretty quiet and if you put it the other side of the car or behind a tree, then it's pretty quiet. It does have a Honda engine in it. Wouldn't be surprised if the electrics are similar also.
Cheers

The Engle has the same engine as the Honda. However the Electrics are different. Engle produces a square wave and the Honda produces a sine wave. The Honda will operate some appliances that the Engle will not. An air conditioner is a good example.

hello Andrea i have both the Engel shx 2000 and a Honda 2 kva

Engel is a little noisier than the Honda not by much a few db
Engel has an eco switch the Engel does not
Engel is only 1 kg heaver but is fatter to look at lol
both perform better than i had expected. I have on an overnight stop run the lights and fridges tv s on 3 caravans one microwave at a time both will run window mounted a/c at home on a test run
Engel fuel tank is bigger
Engel is cheaper to buy i got my Honda for nothing so thats why i have one

oh did i mention i have an Engel shx 2000 for sale lol

both have Honda motors but electrics are different so i have been told but both work just fine ...................... len

Have a neighbour here who said quote"just bought myself a Engel generator, same as a honda but heaps cheaper.I dont know why people buy hondas when these are the same, blah blah blah.
Well all was fine for two months but then the generator started to surge. It was taken to a repair shop and they were told it was fine. After many arguements it was finally replaced with another Engel. Two weeks later it started to do the same thing and they then upgraded to a Honda. No problems since.
His latest comment was"carnt understand people buying the cheaper genny, the honda is great'.
Id go a Honda or Yammy.

4 year warranty on the Honda.

We use EU20's in our service vehicles and have never had a problem....the get run for about 20 hours a week and the oldest one is 5 years.

If you want it to be quiet try a Yamaha.
