Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody has done an early trip to The Cape yet this year, and is back home??

I'm interested as to any changes up there this year - Extra Bitumen, Roadworks, changes to access (places closed or new ones reopened), fuel prices ????

Cheers

Ditto from me. We are off on our three year jaunt next week and after Daly River we are heading to the cape around June. Looking forward to getting back there.

Cheers

RACQ road report still has Bamaga Rd closed from the turn-off on Weipa Rd. Maybe someone will have been there though.

On another thread on a different forum, it appears that traffic has been getting through to at least Weipa for the last few weeks.

Surely there's a mad run-off Barra fisherman out there who has already "bagged-out" and returned home??

Just thought that I would "bump" this back up again, before it dissappears into the Explore Oz black hole.

The updated road conditions seem to be a bit confusing, with some sections of the same road saying a variety of conditions ranging from Closed > Caution > 5 tonne road limit.

Last time i was up there (2006), the Coen Police were booking vehicles that ignored the "road closed" status, and got them while waiting at the Archer River for the river to drop.

Surely there's a few early travellers heading back home this weekend??
