Hi
We are set to travel oz in a few weeks time and wish to try out our rig and capabilities.
The plan is to drive
the beach from
Goolwa to the mouth next Sunday.
Tides- Low Tide 05.21 High tide 12.55 and low again at 19.37.
Thought we might go down in the morning, have lunch at the mouth(throw in a line if you wish) and come back in the arvo.
We have a TD Troopy with winch, ground anchor and four
Max Trax's.
We plan to do a run to the mouth with the just the car first(a drive i have done several times) and then tow our Tvan down on the second trip.
The purpose of this is to see how our rig performs as we are very HEAVY and would like to do this under a controlled environment where there are other cars to help should we need it.
We travel solo and wish to know what we will be up against should we do beach/sand driving on our trip.
ANY TAKERS?
Thanks for your time.
Lyndon & Bernadette

When last at
Goolwa beach 5 -6 weeks ago, noticed a sign that restricted access along
the beach to within a specified distance of the
Murray Mouth. Thought I saw 5km but don't think that would be right, perhaps 500 metres. Can't be sure, perhaps someone with more recent information can update. Understand that restrictions have been imposed because of on-going dredging. Just thought you should know so that not disappointed if access isn't what you'd hoped for.

Hi Lyndon,
I went to the mouth a few months ago with two other cruisers, one pulling a trailer, and the only half chanlenging bit was the detour around the sand the dredge has put on
the beach just before the mouth.
Did the whole thing on highway pressures. I wont say the car didnt labour as it was working quite hard but take out half the air and it would have been no trouble at all.
If you want to hone your skills on sand driving before you take off you might have to go to
Peake S.E. or Pt
Gawler (which may be closed now???) otherwise you may get a bit disappointed.
Still a nice spot if the weather is kind but I think you might be a bit late for the mullies.
Have fun Chard.

Chard, beach conditions can and do change very quickly. I have seen many 4wds bogged on Moana beach, which many unexperienced drivers would call easy, which it can be "on the day" Krakka.

hi, i live in
Goolwa, if there's any extra info you need yell out and i will try to help were i can, no we don't have a 4x4 but talking to friends that go down there on a regular basis they say that the tides have been quite high lately (to the bottom of the 4x4 track) and that it has been boggy on other times. but i can certainly ask any questions you might have and get back to you from Chris.

hi, just foundout about the access to the mouth, yes it is open all the way, the main problem is the last klm is VERY boggy and you have to watch the tides as they are quite high at the moment so you could get stuck. good luck and have a good time, let me know if theres any thing else i can help you with, from chris.
