Just wondering if anyone has experience with the single hoop 6oz canvas tent that Southern Cross have on their website. I have had one of their centre pole tents for several years and am happy with it for 4wding. I'm thinking of the lighter one for motorbike touring. I'm mainly interested in how well it handles heavy rain and high winds as this is when many tents "come undone". I'll check it out at their factory for size, weight etc. Unlike Truckster who seemed unable to make up his mind on anything about tents (good on you Truckster - did you ever get a tent? - I read the whole long episode of a couple of months ago - a good read!!), I do know what I want but just would appreciate any first hand experience of how well 6oz canvas stands up to the elements.
Thanks!!

Truckster,
I got one of those (used only once) for sale, bought it back in december.
It has the large and small awnings.

Thanks truckster but that doesn't look like one in their range. I was looking at a red single hoop canvas one they make out of 6oz canvas. Weight isn't critical but size is important - my centre pole is great in the 4wd but too big for the purpose I want this one for.
As a matter of interest, what is the $130 one and where did you get it? The Southern Cross dome is $480. of course it's made here (Bayswater)from Aus materials - which is a huge plus over imported tents.

Mick,
Nope not a Canvas Southern cross, not even canvass, but for $130, it was 1/3 the price of the swag I wanted, and it does the same!!

Truckster,
I haven't got any pics, it was only up once!! But if you visit Southern Cross web site, it is there (or talk to them) I bought mine in December and they reckon they have not made any changes since.
Reason for selling: I used to have the previous model (with velcro on the bottom of the door) and we used it a lot ended up selling it to get new model with Zipper all around the door and bigger windows, vents up the top, cable slot etc etc.
Now that I got the new model with all the options, my daughters use their own dome (two man tent) and I use my swag so the big tent is never used....
Price is negotiable to a certain extent and I am in ACT
