Took a run up the Barry Way last week...up
hill and down dale and in the vicinity of Suggan Buggan the road became VERY narrow with a drop off on the drivers side that made me hold my breath. Told the missus "Tell me when I get too close to the
cliff face" so none of us would get veritgo.
Further along the road we came across a Coaster Bus towing a trailer but that was after Suggan Buggan. Not sure where they were headed for, but doubt of the road would have been wide enough to continue south. Saw only two vehicles between
Buchan and
Jindabyne and one was parked across the road loading horses on to a crate. We mamanged tpo squeeze past.
Spectacular Country and will explore it more at a later date.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Remember it
well...
Did the trip up to Willis (NSW border) along the Barry way in a pea soup fog about 9pm in the middle of September ~25 yrs ago.
Mate was "spotter" spotting where the next white post on the side of the road was (usually 1-2 sec gap between "gone" and "next") while we were "flat out" at 40 km/h for 2 1/2 hours. Fog was that bad that we didn't notice the drop on the other side of the posts.
.........................until we were driving back
home. I think we were better off NOT knowing as the language got quite colorful to say the least on the way back.
Doesn't sound like much has changed. Agree about the scenery - stunning and soooo peaceful.

That section was always a favourite with Car Rallys in the '70s. The stage was called 'Parachute Ridge' and the route instructions had from 1 to 5 parachutes next to the 'reading' designating the distance to the bottom of the valley if you happened to leave the road.
5 parachutes meant backing right off around the bend.
It was done at night- and there was always a bit of a dust cloud from the preceeding cars.
That was in the days I had not-too-bad night vision !!!
