laser antenna for mobile phone?

Gday, I was going to install the rfi cd2195 but have been told of a 9db laser antenna with stainless whip. I havent seen one but by its description its not a broomstick. Can anyone tell me what they are like.

Just a long thin piece of Stainless steel wire on a base. About 3mm diameter wire

If it says it's a 9dB gain then it will work as
well as any other 9dB gain antenna.
It's the only type we ever used in the past and simple and durable.
