I am sure there are heaps of threads on this but being lazy...

....who do you recommend I insure my camper trailer with?

Also with respect to cover for the 4x4, I am heading of for five months with the family and was going to renew my insurance with AAMi. Need to check if they cover me in remote areas if I am on an ungazzetted road.

Can anyone recommend an insurer?

caravans campers etc - CIL insurance

re 4x4 AAMI and other insurers and brokers have always told me that you are covered providing where you are driving is legal. so if you are somewhere you shouldnt be you are in trouble if you need your insurance for an accident etc.

good luck with it

That rule is regarding private property that you dont have permission to be on ONLY. AAMI covers you for all of Australia, exept where you have no permission to be and that is privat property that is not otherwise through access. Any road listed on a map that does not fall into private property witout permission, you are covered, as well as off road under the same conditions.
So dont go whwer you are not welcome and all is well.

I have got a real good deal from the RAA, so probably NRMA would be the same.
Even covers contents as long as you have locks on the zips.

They said as long as I can show that it was locked and there was forced entry, they would cover contents .

I have a small lock that locks the side and bottom zips together.

Western QBE seems pretty good. Camper and car is insured with them and camper is covered for 2K of contents. This is regardless of whether I have locks on my zips or not. :)

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on cover. I will give them all a call - love waiting listening to automated voices.

Howdy Greg,
We asked the same question a week or so back. CIL , MHIA & APIA seemed to be what most people recommended.
CIL $447 MHIA $402.19 & APIA $477.80 PA. We ended up re insuring through National seniors underwritten by Allianz for $390.
There excess is more at $375.00 the other three being $100 for damage, $100 for contents & $100 for awning.
They all seemed to offer the same benefits otherwise.

Hi Barry,

Unfortunately / Fortunately I don't qualify for Apia as I am 37.

Not sure if the others are "seniors" orientated?
