Hi, I recently bought a pair of these 2Watt uhf radios ( Motorola SX709R ). Having not used a cb radio for 25 years these seem nice but take a bit of time to workout how to use.

Does anyone own this model ? I'm stumped on how to stop it scanning in monitor mode when it finds a active channel..I've read the instructions 3 times but when it pauses for the 5 seconds on a active channel it then starts scanning again but I want it to stop..

I don"t have a handheld but when most radio's pause on scan if you push the scan button once it stays on that channel till you change it.

Yes this is what I was thinking should happen but when I press that button it returns to my 'home' channel...anyway thanks for the replies, I'll keep experimenting :)

On many radios once you've stopped them from scanning - even though it may have returned to your home (preferred) channel, you can normally select other channels using up and down arrow keys.

On my hand held unit (not a Motorola) I can stop scanning by pressing either the "scan" button as suggested by Batt, or the Tx button.

I have a little Uniden... i think.. If it is scanning or paused on a channel in scanning I just press the scan button to get it to stop scanning. It will go back to the last channel it was on. Either the one prior to scnning or the last one it paused on.
The GME in the car does the same

yeah that's it.. when it stops at a channel I want it to stay there, but these motorola's go back to it's programmed home station when I press the scan button again.. only way to go to another station is to set the new station as a new home station.. ..
Anyway thanks for replies ,,
