I want to go out to the Wanna Munna Pool from Port Hedland. I understand the turn off is not sign posted.

Does anyone have the GPS coordinates either for the Pool or the turn off to the Pool?

Much appreciated

The driving directions are not that great but you may be able to work it from the Satellite view. If someone has the point and the turn of please create a new place in the system for it so that we can all find it next time and link the new place to this thread. Have a good one.

If you google the name you will find a fair bit of info but I couldn't find any directions except that it is located 76k north of newman and 2k off the highway. The Newman visitor centre has mud maps of the Newman Waterholes.I had a look on my Raster Maps but it only shows the Flats area the Pool doesn't seem to be named.

Anyway I'm sure the visitor centre will give you the directions.

Troopy22,
I went there a few years ago and i think there is a small sign on the road at the turn off. And I do mean a small. Try these co ords S 23 06.575 E 119 07.669 i found these on my old GPS. These co ords will be the car park at the waterholes.
Or if you can find a book called "Explore the Pilbara in your 4WD"
its in there aswell but they use the othrer type of datum for
co-ords.
Cheers

No sign there last year, just the poles it used to be on. We found the turnoff 33km SE from the Mt Robinson rest area, going towards Newman, as shown on the Hema Pilbara map. It's about 2 km off the road to the pool.
Cheers John

Thanks to every one for your responses.

As suggested, I contacted the Newman Visitor Centre and they are mailing me a mud map which has all the local waterholes marked. Wendy tells me the turnoff is 73km from Newman and is marked by some pink ribbon on a star picket. It's on the northern side of the Highway.

Thanks for the coordinates long haired nomad. I'll check those against my Hema maps. I'll post the coordinates I take while I'm there and post them for the benefit of others.

Regards

Troopy

Gday Troopy22,
I had a look at the link that David&Michelle (Wunna Munna Flats) put up in their first post and looked at the satellite view. If you find the co-ords S 23.10971 E 11912789 you will find the car park.
Although i dont belive the Google co-ords. I checked my GPS co -ords with my Oz Topo V2 and they were the same.
Cheers
