Jockey wheels with a flat bottom

My camper trailer came with a removable pneumatic jockey wheel, which is a pain and another thing to pack away.

Replaced it with a lift up jockey wheel of the same type. everything was fine, until.....

First of all, the tyre on the latter went flat, then the original went out in sympathy. Bit unusual I thought, but it was only a matter of pulling out the hose from the car and pumping them up.

That's when I noticed the valve stem is of a smaller diameter than a car valve. The Big Red compressor pumped away, but got nowhere (most of the air was bypassing the narrow intake)

Am I missing something?

Regards

Kim

Shane

I think your right. The one I have is Alco.

At the time I was offered two different brands, one of which was a solid jockey wheel with the same profile.

Might take the orginal back, and change it over for the latter.

Kim,
In QLD, BCF have a 20% discount on jockey wheels until 28 Apr 08 (I think). If you have BCF in VIC you might be able to get the same deal. Same original price as Supercheap.

If it is a tubed one, new tubes with a normal vlave are about 10 bucks from a tyre place if you DIY.
I was annoyed by mine slowly going down. It still goes down very slowly but a couple of seconds and she's good.
