It hasn't been mentioned yet, so I'll lob the first grenade.

We voted in a new Govt just 6 months ago. They were elected, overwhelming on their policies.

Why, on Earth, do we need to have a gathering of 1000 of the "Best and Brightest" to dictate policy? Many of these are media representatives (what could they possibly contribute?).

Didn't Bob Hawke do this back in 1984?

We elect our representatives to be decisive, and we live and die by their decisions (our troops).

Make no mistake, I think Kevin is as fine an international diplomat as we have ever had, perhaps Gough was better but time will tell.
Julia Gillard is doing an outstanding job, conducting herself with aplomb.

BUT, this "Summit" may well just turn into a taxpayer funded Bullchit fest.

Bob's did bugger all in 84 and got favourable acclaim, I fear this may do the same with little genuine substance.

Jim.

According to the Ch 7 news tonight...if every one of the 1000 attendees gets to have their say they will get 39 seconds each to put forward their suggestions, (let's get real).
As you say Jim...a taxpayer funded Bull#hit fest. I wonder if they will work out a solution to the fuel fiasco?
Morris Mirrors (He'll look into it) from NSW apparently wants to put forward the policy of us older Aussies near retirement working longer to qualify for the pension. Will the Gov't subsidise our pharmacy costs to keep us alive so we can work longer and pay for the long term dole recipients?

How can they be our 'Best and Brightest' if Premier Dilemma is one of them. He immediately halves the aggregate IQ.

No Mick,

Can't make it. I can't afford 6 days away from the factory.

If you're going to Caulfield, our factory is only about 20 minutes away. Pop in anytime to say hello and have a cuppa, just call me first to ensure I'm not going to be out.

Cheers,

Jim.

I am sure that they will be able to form a few committees, with sub-committees that will appoint consultants that will tell them that like their previous term in office, they have acheived absolutely nothing.

Fair point Hairy but I fear this is not the way to do it. Still I could be completely wrong, it has happened before. I remember a time back in 1979 LOL

Gooday,
There is one thing I would like to see come out of it & that is Citizen Initiated Referendum, Bet they are too scared to even mention it let alone put it up for discussion.

You can bet your Sox the only things they will agree to are ideas that attract votes to KEEP them in Government.

No I am not a "CYNIC," just a "REALIST".
Cheers,

Citizen Initiated Referenda.
Sounds reasonable in theory but the loudest cry for such an idea comes from the group known as the Citizens Electoral Lobby (or something similar).
They are the mouthpiece for the rantings of the far right of Ghengis Khan loony radical Lyndon LaRouche.

Use google to read his ideas and theories.

Now there is something REAL SCARY.

Disco.

I have a great idea.

All the public land , removed from public use for one reason or another should be returned as public use land.

Lets start with Colson track

Was it ever Public land or was it common land in stead of Clown Land?

Hi Richard

I assume that was just a typo in your reply - I don't care who rely owns it , I'm more concerned that we have lost ability to travel this and many other tracks.

With Anzac day approaching - as my parents say "Why did I bother to fight for this country" when I no longer have reasonable access to even just pass thru large bits of it.
