Hi all,

Just a quick question to ask the experienced members.

When planning a trip are there any maps or a web sights that shows if the road that has been chosen is suitable for caravans, I know that our own site here is excellent for planning off road and outback trips.

I have been able to find good trip planners but they do not detail if the road is actually suitable for caravans.

I look forward to your replies.

Never seen one,

I use this site from the NRMA but it only gives the option of avoiding dirt roads, which is better than nothing I guess

Matt

Maybe you could Google a caravan forum more better info. There a a few around.

With the advent of 'Offroad' Caravans people seem to take them anywhere including east west treks across the deserts and some of the more isolated tracks that Len Beadell made.

'On Road' caravans should best be towed along the bitumen as they may sustain damage on corrugated gravel roads.

Most state government websites maintain a section the covers their roads, conditions and closures, particularly those states with outback highways (SA, WA, NT and QLD).

Here's SA and WA's.. Just google "Road conditions south australia" and each state and you'll find heaps of info.

Cheers. Mick
