I have '87 sahara with the 12H-T diesel motor and auto gearbox. The body has become a real rust bucket. I have got onto a FJ62 with the H151F 5 speed manual gearbox. Will my 12H-T bolt up against this? I know the loom and engine mounts will need to be changed. Has anyone else done this?

G'Day,
If the G/box is the H55F which would have originally come with the FJ62 then the 12HT should bolt up to that. The conversion should be reasonably straight forward given you have a complete donor vehicle.
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave,
It is a H55F but it is mated to a petrol motor I thought the bellhousing and the flywheel might be different. I guess I'll find out when I pull it out.

why do you want to get rid of the auto? the turbo diesels quite often work better with an auto as far as gearing is concerned and it masks the turbo lag allowing the engine to get on boost quicker.

Hi Peter,
The only reason I would change from the auto is to save moving the mounting brackets for it as they are different. A lot depends on whether the manual bolts up to the diesel without too much hassle. The manual is a very good tight unit whilst the auto is getting a bit tight-its done 440,000 kms.
Thanks for input,
John
