Hi jt,

There have been reports that it will be discontinued but details apparently won't be announced until the federal Budget next month.
The CEO of the LPG Association Of Australia (Steve Woodward0 said in todays paper that he has "held talks with politicians and public servants but has not been able to confirm if the rebate would be dropped"
I guess all will be revealed in the May Budget papers.

Cheers,
Glen

here in wa we were thinking of putting our diesel car on gas and we were told that we would get $2000 from federal gov and $1000 from state gov, and have been told by the gas fitter's it available until 2014 unless rudd changes the policy on us. P.S. private use vechiles only apply for rebates.

Yes that is correct - the Howard Government introduced the rebate for the period up to 2014. However the rumours are that the current Government will cancel or change that plan to keep it going until 2014. Cost to Govt so far is $220m in rebates.
The rumours may or may not be correct - or they may modify the scheme in some way. I don't think anyone can say with certainty what will happen until the May buget papers are available,
Cheers,
Glen
