If, like me, you use Internet reports of daily fuel prices when on the road, please be aware that they are not always accurate. Today Shell's website says unleaded is 150.9 at Mildura (it was 145.9 when I passed there today), and 145.9 at Waikerie (it was 155.9, and I went on to Burra and filled at SAFF for 143.5).

Sorry, David. I realise ExploreOz links these sites!

Why would you bother with checking out daily fuel prices?

When you are on the road that's it...your are travelling.

In the scheme of things you may only pay a differential of 1 or 2 cents when refuelling. This may equate to a couple of dollars max.
Fill up 20 times and it may cost you $40 extra if you are unlucky in 12,000km

Not worth the stress of you ask me...lol

Cheers

The difference between $1.55 and $1.43 is 12 cents per litre, not two cents. Over the 13,000km of my current trip this would add a little under $200 to my overall fuel bill. That's a bit more than the $40 suggested by Willem. I can stay a couple of extra nights on the road for that.

I don't find it any stress to check my email daily, and logging onto fuel price sites (or ExploreOz, for that matter) adds zero to that effort. But it is annoying when those sites give prices so long out of date. (I note that the Shell site has now updated to the prices I noted two days ago.)
