Looking at buying a Navara turbo diesel Auto and a Jayco Sterling/Freedom Outback. Will the vehicle require modifying to tow ie suspension, oil cooler, or will a stock standard Nissan Navara tow it well enough?

Hi Rambada 1

Ours is just over 6 metres, and 2200kgs the Navara tows it very easy,
even up the beach.

Cheers

Personally I would fit a transmission cooler and fit Air Bags to the rear to assist the OEM suspension.

Cheers Kev

I had the D20 fited with a canopy, Long Range Tank and a set of drawers in the tub. I was towing a hravily laden camper trailer. I found that the standard suspension was too soft. I put a heavier rated suspension kit from Ironman which included shocks, rear springs and front torsionbars. It improved things no end and at half the price of some of the competition. Still going strong after 80,000 tough km.

Cheers. Mick

Thanks one & all, thought that may be the case.

Must look at the Iron man gear. Always been a Bilstein/King spring man so far.

I think you were just looking for an excuse to make your truck ride rougher. My 2 tonne van is ok with standard suspension. Just get yourself a set of Hayman Reese WDH for highway use, that's all you need.

ST-X or ST-R????

Airbags in the back end....$450 will do the trick and they are great. As for anything else, not really sure - we tow a camper trailer and its great so far, bucky's is the same so is my sister in laws......

they are a great set up!
