Have you ever filled out one of those "consumer research things?" If you haven't, a word to the wise, don't.
He was a little old nerdy looking guy that turned up on my doorstep this afternoon."It won't take long," says he apologetically. Yeah right. 45 mts later he leaves a couple of thick questionnaire booklets behind mumbling about some "prizes" that can be won if you hand em in on time.
So here am I doing my bit for Australian capitalism. He gets paid, I get zilch.
Now the guy has already found out anything and everything about me and
mine. From breakfast cereal (which types do you recognize...where have you seen them advertised...how much do you buy and where from etc... etc. etc.). How much money do I have? Where does it come from? What's the status of my relationship?
How about my health? (only 200 questions on that bit).
Now I'm no slouch at getting through these things, but it took me 45 minutes to do the first booklet at warp speed. Oh yes, privacy guaranteed (until hacked into I'll bet.)
The next time they ring or turn up here, I'm going to thump them with their own booklets!

I love the endless on line questionnaires you get when trawling through the Telstra / BigPond web site looking for information. When its being particularly impossible (ie usually) I have a great time giving it 0/10 for heaps of questions like "Did you find it easy to use?".
When they ask "How can we improve?" - I tell 'em what ever is getting up my nose at the time.
Bet they don't read, and maybe not even compile all that!
But I too learned the hard way to say"No" to people who knock on the door asking for anything - be it a "few minutes" or "who is your isp?" or "what phone plan are you on?" or "how would you like to save a billion dollars a month on your phone/electricity/gas bills?".
Repeated response of "Not your business" does not get rid of them, polite requests to go do not get rid of them, I find I have to get a little firm before they depart. Even that interview takes ten minutes.
Happy form filling Footy!

I did a questionaire about fast food and advert recognition, I think I am an outlier tho, because the only company I ever ate at or recognised was barnicle bill - anyone remember them, I will have the company researching how barnicle bill has gained such a loyal customer.
One company I called the ACCC over was a company that said they had a investment product with great returns for a small business like
mine. So of course I wanted to know about it, turns out they substituted the word "Invest" with the word "gamble". It was horse betting. Finally I said "can I use your investment system without gambling on horses" and got a "no" so I explained the defenition of gambling and investing and told her to change her companies procedures otherwise I would call the ACCC. I ended up getting another cold call worded the same from this mob so I called the ACCC on them as promised. The ACCC said if they get enough compaints they may eventually do something. I hope no one has got ripped off.

Fast food ? That's only a very small sub section of this one. It encompasses everything you can think of...including cars.
