OK, So at mid night tonight the CDMA network is turned off.! Was bemused to see people still bidding on CDMA phones on Ebay..? Dummy bids perhaps..?
Who hasn't switched over to Next G yet..?

Hi All
Does, or will Optus have something similar in the future?
why I am asking is, C D M A wont work where my lad lives here
on the
Gold Coast, you can get it at his front
gate, but when you drive up to his house, one kilometre away it cuts out. he has to use
Optus which works ok, or the Land Line which fails every time it
rains.
Cheers
Daza

You will need Telstra Next G Daza. It should work where you are. Optus have 3G however this is for main city or metropolitan areas, Next G replaces CDMA for coverage in remote/rural areas as
well.

Optus and Elders had a thing called OPEL rural broadband, but I think the Fed Govt pulled the plug on it, so at this stage Telstra rules for country communication

May I suggest putting the phone on Ebay under the "Toy Mobile Phone Section". Before you laugh the phones are selling for up to $60 and they are toys..! How about a real phone that does everything accept make phone calls..? Gotta be happy with that.!

Spent $5000 setting up the work vehicles with analogue phones years ago - was impressed with service areas.
Spent another $5000 replacing those with the "you have to have digital coz analogue is being switched off".
Two years of pathetic service reception later - dumped the phones completely.
Been nearly ten years since I owned a mobile phone - Im still smiling, Its like giving up smoking.
Codan for in the bush and wait till I get
home if you want to ring me.
