Hi,

I have a 99 Jackaroo with front & rear recovery hooks - can anyone tell me whether they are genuine recovery hooks - they seem fairly substantial.

Willykj.. I have a 2000 Jack and it came with the recovery hooks front and rear, when I bought it new. When I put on the tow bar, the rear hook had to be put on with a longer bolt. But in answer to you.. Yes they are genuine.

Hi Willykj,

I also have a 2000 Jack which only had one recovery hook at the front when I bought it. I got TJM to put another hook on which looks exactly the same as the existing one. I think you can safely assume your hooks are genuine but if you have any doubts check with TJM or ARB or some other 4wd specialist.

Regards,
John.

APART FROM THE HOOK THE BOLTS HOLDING THE HOOK ARE PROBABLY MORE IMPORTANT. I ENDED UP REPLACING MINE WITH HIGH TENSILE BOLTS THAT I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF. ACCIDENTALY I DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING WITH THE BOLTS HOLDING THE TOW BAR AS VERY OFTEN I'M FINDING RECOVERY FROM THE CENTRE OF THE BACK MUCH MORE PRACTICABLE, OF COURSE YOU DON'T USE THE TOW BALL BUT REMOVE THE TONGUE AND USE THE PIN.

Yeah they are genuine recovery hooks, any holden dealer who does a good trade in jacks and rodeos will have a heap of spare ones sitting around from bullbar and towbar fitments, ask nicely at your next service and i'm sure they will give you another hook and bolts for the front. I have still got a few from when i worked for the general.. Having the second hook on the front really helps when the shiza hits the fan... Cheers Brad
