travelled the "adventure way" last sept/oct. black-top to cooper creek crossing approx. 90 kms east of nappa merri with road gang still working out there. don't know how far tar will go. good gravel graded road. innamincka end a bit rough with some bull dust patches but no 4wd needed if you take care in these dodgy spots. like all tracks drive to the conditions. don't go near here if wet stuff from sky around though. you could find yourselves staying longer than anticipated. qld outback tourist authority will send good pamphlet on thargaminda and beyond. have a great trip.

Did that route 2 years ago and agree with your comments (it rained while we there and we were glad we had 4wd to get out). We ducked down to the pub at Noccundra (which I think was a sealed road) for lunch and to top up the tanks whilst still in Queensland - the petrol was the same price as Innamincka as it turned out - but it means you only need to make about 275 kms on your tank to get to Innamincka.
Regards,
Brad

There were several conventional vehicles on the dirt section in the week before Easter. No probs from what I could see.
