Hi there, This site came up on an internet search so I am hoping someone can help. Our immobiliser recently gave up and we purchased 2 new ones. These now need to be synchronised with the car engine. I have the 5 digit code. Can anyone tell me how to do this or is it something a service centre will need to do?

More details please. Each manufacturer has a different idea how this is engineered. You will probably get yourself a
test book and the appropriate codes.

Car is a 1999 hyundai lantra sportswagon. We are the original owners. New immobilisers purchased are called "Remote EF Sonata". Purchased from an Hyundai dealer.

Have you asked the dealer ? Some keys can be activated by various methods in the vehicle, others require a keypad device that the dealer has.

using the ign switch without de immobilising it turn the key to correspond with your code eg. if 5 is the code no turn the key 5 times

Dont know about your one but Toyotas specify a number of turns and usually within the same number of seconds EG on and off 20 times WITHIN 20 secs Then hold the button down.
This applies to setting various things like initialising remotes activating add on alarm system etc. Your dealer will tell you and may do it for free.
Mine did the first time I needed it done.
