Never stayed there, but we've spent a few weeks each Winter at Groper Ck. at the of the Burdekin River. a little further South. Crabbing has been good, and fishing the last couple of years a little slack mainly because of cold water. The Burdekin
Dam is still choccas, so I don't know how things'll be later in the year. The
camping area at Groper Ck. was unde water earlier this year. It's a nice part of the world. Cheers.

G'day Peter
Never actually stayed at the Caravan park , but did stay at the
free camp area right on the river 2 yrs ago, was a pretty good spot although there is only 1 long drop dunny there and not much else....cant comment on the fishing as we were there for 4 days and never even got the tinny in the water, weather was absolute crap the whole time we were there....Be very careful of the crocs , we spotted some very large ones.
Cheers......Dave
P.S watch the weather i was told whilst we were there that if it rains enough you can get stuck there..

Thanks for the replies.
That Groper Creek looks interesting, and worth further investigation.
Initial request was on behalf of a friend who is thinking of going to Giru so will pass your comments on.
