Hi All

Has anyone had one installed in a GQ 4.2 Diesel? Would like to
hear some feedback as we are looking into getting one.
Cheers

Hi Matt,

Might be a bit late, but we used to have a '91 GQ which had an after market turbo fitted. I believe it was a Garrett brand fitted at Mike Vine Turbo in Brisbane. Exceptional performance and no problems in the 100,000ks we owned it for. The only negatives and this may be due to tuning issues,

It used to blow lots of black smoke under hard acceleration.
The engine did get hot now and then especially in the hot summers months.
It does increase your servicing costs as more gear to pull off to get to engine.

A lot of people have said that the GQ engine was easily mated to and after market Turbo

Good Luck

i had one fitted five years ago to a gq by 4wd systems in adelaide it definitely improved performance did not make much difference to fuel economy. never had any issues with over heating in summer no mechanical problems with it. yes i would recommend a turbo from 4wd systems. i have no interest in this company just a happy customer.
have a nice day.
