Howdy ,

I am looking around GE where I am planning a trip in June in WA . Previously , I could zoom in and from 300m up , I could get a clear , sharp view of a particular area . Now it looks as though there is water on the lense of a set of binoculars . The same views I have looked at previously , are gone in a blur .

I have GE on another laptop and have checked TOOLS / OPTIONS and looked at it to see if I have changed anything I should not have . This does not work though , as the other puter must have an earlier verson and the variables are quite different .

My other problem is that when I go FILE / SAVE / SAVE IMAGE , I cannot find where it is saved to . Is this a way of saving a page so that you can look at it when you have no web connection - or what ? And where does it goe when it's saved ?

So many questions , so little time !

Thanks ,

Willie .

Can't help you with the resolution issue however re location of saved files. When you select Save and then Image it takes you to a dialogue box where you are prompted to enter a name. If you look directly above where you type the name you will/should see a name path with folder names. It is likely to be saved somewhere in My Documents. Like I said if you check before you click save you can even change the location at which you save

Probably older photo's in the area you want , for saving have a look in the bar along the top and see where it's directiong the saved photo, probably the default setting, so open C:/ drive then look in program files / google/

Willie,

the other thing to remember is that once you save the images, as a jpeg for example, the resolution drops off significantly. The saved images are of much less quality than you would browse on the 'live" viewer.

I have been using the gmapmaker program as reccomended by Equinox and The Explorer on this forum. It automatically loads the images into dot.map files for use on ozi explorer. The resolution through this program is a little better than saving as a jpeg but still of poorer quality than the live application.

Cheers. Mick.

If saving a file, name it "whatever" file. Then go to search and find it. You'll see its directory in the results. If using XP, use Windows explorer to go to that directory and You'll find all your saved files.

Hi, When you are looking at what you want ( in Google Earth), press " Print Screen" on you keyboard. then open "Paint" then click "Edit" then "Paste" and it will appear , then " Save as " to somewhere ( My Pictures), then open it with "Office Picture Manager", crop and save the bit you want.
Dead easy, Cheers Des.

Gday DesF

The 'printkey 2000', and 'snag it' programs take this a step further, allowing you to draw a rectangle around the area you want to save as a jpeg, taking a lot of the steps out....you can them simply copy and paste the image onto a document (excel, email, word etc without saving it...very handy

Gdday
They are seperate programs I think you are supposed to buy....(I have brainy friends that put stuff on my computers for me for free....naughty naughty I know). I think printkey 2000 is free, try here
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22960-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html

It is very handy and we use it a lot at work for transferring screen shots from program to program. snag it has more features, but I find printkey easier to use.

Cheers ANdrew

Hi, all , I have noticed the area's that they have updated the vision on ( 07) is not as clear as the older shots. Our area Flinders Ranges SA is still 04 and you can go down a lot closer , they have just done another block south of Pirie and it is a greyer colour and not as fine a detail.
Cheers Des.
