Kev & Darkie
The rear windscreen in Darkie doesn't seal properly and requires removal and refitting. I went to Windscreens O Briens and got quoted $185 if I remove the tray or $225 if they have to remove the tray. No panel beaters in the area want to touch it (to hard) and Novus Windscreens said to go to O Briens :(
I know
Gladstone is a mining community but bloody hell not all of us work in the mining industry. I thought about doing it as an Insurance job but will need the front windscreen done when we get back from
Innamincka as it already has a crack and large stone chip :)
Any ideas apart from not getting it done and not having Darkie in the rain or washing him??
Cheers Kev

from the looks the rear window has plenty of access from the tray.who doesnt want the work? wait till this mining boom crashes , ill have extra staff and people wont be too fussyabout what jobs they want to do or not!

I don't have time to wait for the boom to crash as I wash Darkie at least once a fortnight and inside gets wet every time if I am not careful. There is about 40mm clearance between the rear windscreen and the headboard.

does the rear screen sit in a rubber seal or is sealed on ? if it sits within a rubber seal (like 80 series windscreen) you can loosen the screen from the inside to to remove it from the rear. just got to take more care

It just schites me when you can get a brand new replacement front windscreen for the same money. All they have to do is remove the existing one remove the dodgy seal and refit.
And yes I am going to pay up cause I am sick of having to dry the inside of Darkie out every time I wash him or it rains.
Cheers Kev

Hey Kev, how do you tell the sex of a Toyota?
Do you look up the exhaust pipe or some thing?
Or did you see when it was getting cut?

I think you would get it done a fair bit cheaper, if you had both jobs done at the same time.

Knowing my luck if I did the front windscreen before the trip I would need a new windscreen after the first day of travelling. The damage to the front is not yet enough to cause vision problems for me (driver) but the passenger does have a stone chip slightly bigger than a 50c piece in thier field of vision. The crack has startedin the bottom centre of the screen and I am hoping it travels to the stone chip on the passenger side.
Cheers

Can you just pump a heap of sica-flex into the rubber surround, and that do the job ?
or, there lies the problem, the tray is still in the way.
Best solution I can offer after the above is to take the tray off it yourself, and then pump in the sica-flex ( spelling )
Its early for me ,, got day shift and woke at 1:30 am ( boo hoo )
You get that
Cheers

Darkie is a Toyota mate and they never need washing anyway so what's ya problem. If you keep washing him the metal (lol) will show through and the true colours will be seen - NSW Blue haha
Cheers
PS Pay the costs of getting al and mrs al to
Innamincka and I'm sure Al will do it for you.
