Looking at putting a 2nd deep cylce battery for added capacity in camper trailer and looking for advice if what I want to do will work OK.

What I want to achieve is to be able to run the camper off one battery while the other one is charging. When the first is charged flick a switch and changeover running camper to fully charged one while the first one is being charged.

Currently running 123W solar panel with 3 stage charger / regulator.

The way I had in mind to wire it up would be:
1. Output from regulator into VSR.
2. Input from car into VSR same terminal as regulator.

Switchgear I'm looking is here.

Will it work or is there a better way of doing it?

Wouldn't you be better off hooking the two batteries up in parallel if you are after more capacity? It would save switching...

Too many issues with charging them both properly.

Not really - you are opting for the hard way. For interconnecting batteries see -Site Link

Hi Mogul

The solar panel can't keep the VSR engaged so it won't work.

Also from my own testing you are better off having one battery bank. Don't try running 2 banks as this is hard work and rather leave the solar regulator to do the thinking for you.

Regards

Derek.
