Hi everyone,
I know there is a lot of defence and ex defence personel on this
forum and I am asking for a lead in how to find information concerning this incident our son sent us a quick email letting us know that he was involved in this incident (guessing it was his bushmaster), but was O.K. but did not sound fine (if you can tell from 2 lines sounded distressed) We have not heard from him since and I would like to find out some further information can anyone give me a lead on where to go
thanks barb

Can't you ring him??
What about the Army itself or his unit admin here in Aus?

John,
can't ring him unless it is a dire emergency and a worried mother does not count as an emergency. When they are on deployment you only have letters and emails sometimes and phone calls made by them
thanks barb

As he must be with OBG-W, ring the unit base here in Australia, you know where that is, and ask for confirmation of his status.
Good luck, he is doing a good job over there in conditions most of us in Oz can't imagine.

Barb,
Have a look here
This is used for every OS deployment as
well as Training Exercises within Aust. They should be able to provide you with some form of infomation as to his status.
Cheers Kev

Hi Tam16
I'm not losing sleep that much as I know the Army has procedures in place and he will be looked after as long as his male ego doesnt get in the road and say i'm fine when he is not.
As for your son jooining the army I would have to say it has been the best decision our son has made. The friendships he has made has been fantastic and the way the more experienced men have guided the younger ones has been great re everything in their lives they listen to them more than their parents. My thoughts are they are more likely to get injured or killed in a car accident. This is his second deployment with his first to East Timor and I worried more over that one. I tried to encourage our daughter to join and go to ADFA but she wasnt going to be in that. If it is what your son wants dont worry it will be worth it.

Email him back and ask him to call you, if he can, as you know speaking is much better than writing or email.
Other wise use email, if thats all thats available.
Your son has just had the fright of his life and it may take a few days/ weeks to sort himself out.
Email or write him a letter, any contact with
home will be most welcome.
Wish him and his unit
well from me.
Goodluck

Hi! Everyone,
I would just like to thank everyone for their concern and help over the last few days.
I was able to speak to my son on MSN yeaterday he is fine upset and cranky and very worried about his mate but I hope that will lessen as he gets back into work. All the boys would like more info on their mate but arent receiving many updates. There is hardly any info on the net regarding him either but he is not news worthy now.
Thank YOu Barbara
