Has anyone travled the Dirt road from Darwin to Litchfield recently.

I am currently in Darwin and was thinking of taking the caravan down that way as there is only about 50km of dirt road. I don't want to smash my van up on a bad dirt road...Cruiser is OK, but not sure about van.

Thanks gang

Hey Dunco.

What type of van are we talking about ??

I wouldn't take a non off road van down there myself, even after it has been graded.

There are a lot of blind narrow corners, and sharp narrow crests.

Have fun Steve.

Hi Dunco,

Have to agree Steve here, I haven't been on the road this year but I wouldn't take a road van down the road. Conditions are usually OK but why risk damage. If you are going to Bachelor with the van use the Sturt highway. Only risk it if you intend to go to the other side at Wangi falls but remember that it is pretty busy these days as well. I tried to check the NT GOV web site but they have shut down at the moment. I know a lot of the tracks, including that road was still closed only two weeks ago. Try the website when its up and running:

Good luck with your trip
