Hi GN
My truck is very heavy when loaded,Before these tyres I had Cooper ST's but four out of six split in the side walls when aired down for off road work,I found the MTZ's are stronger in the side walls, They seem to handle better in the wet and have better traction in muddy or slippery conditions.plus reasonably quiet on tar.

Hi Dave
Thanks for reply.
I also had a bad run with the cooper ST,s. Totaled in 35 000km, done 30 000 on goodyear MTR's already over MUCH harder country and they will do atleast another 20 000 easily.
So you are comparing the micky thompsons to coopers?

Both as loud as each other I have found. The MTZ would have a slight advantage in the mud while the MTR would be the better all-rounder (dirt/mud/tar). They definitely have a thicker sidewall as I've seen several Micky T's shredded, one in the Flinders & 2 on the Canning.
I give my MTR's a flogging (driving fast while heavily loaded) and have only seen slight chipping.
Neither tyre seems to have any common failures that I've seen or heard unlike some other brands ;-)

Thanks Crackles
Good to hear a direct comparison.
I am extremly happy with the MTR's but just had a bloke i know who also ran MTR's who has swapped to the micky thompsons and recons they are better but he is one who is good at putting others down in an inderect way, so i should of known better.
Personally unless someone can prove a good reason to change i will be sticking to only the MTR's
Many thanks
GN

Always difficult to compare tyres used by different people in different conditions & the bias that goes with having "the best". (Who wants to admit they bought something not as good as others). With so many MTR's out there with very little advertising other than word of mouth one doesn't hear of many failures overall & that is the experience I've had. Difficult to look at other brands when it's hard to see how they could be any better although some of the Procomp tyres seem to be doing pretty well too.
Cheers Craig......
