awest,

You won't get permits as the traditional owners have closed it. There has been an ongoing argument with the Federal Govt over money for maintenance of the track so it's been made off limits to non-indigenous persons.

I have enquired twice now but believe that the only way you can get on it is with an indigenous or affiliated tag-along tour. Central Lands council in Alice Springs will provide you with any other info.

Good luck. Mick.

We are travelling on the Sandy Blight Junction Road in June/July 2008 and have just received our permits for this road without any problem. The permits from the Central Land Council - phone 0889516320 orhttp://www.clc.org.au come back via emial within a few days.

You also have to apply to the Ngaanyatjarra Council for permission - phone 0889501711 and they will send or fax you the entry permit application.

Also The WA Dep. of Indig. Affairs on www.dia.wa.gov.au and we received this one the next day too.

Hope this helps, Derek
