We are doing a Simpson/Hay river crossing to Alice Springs and normally carry 6-9 bottles of wine and a carton of stubbies.

Under the new rules is that amount legal to carry and consume.

The State of South Australia has no limits as such so long as it's only Coopers. Anything other than that is apparently considered as undrinkable.

Did you try a Google Search ?

In the meantime, have a look at these links...

Carlton and United Breweries send up at least 5 road trains a week to the Top end Via SA with no hassles, It only becomes a hassle on Aboriginal land.

Cheers Steve.

If you dont mind cask wine, just buy a new 20 litre plastic jerry and fill her up with your favorite red.. You can buy huge bladders of red directly from most wineries... Who would look inside a Jerry can.. P.S. Dont mix it up and put it in your tank... Michael

Michael

I reckon it would be to tell the cask wine and diesel apart if you mixed them up and drank them.

I assume this question is a reaction to some of the area in Aust where there are restrictions as to alcohol in general that can be taken to, consumed in or carried through.
If you search the particular state Gov website for alcohol restrictions you will get the answer you need.
