I have brought up GTL fuel as a potential alternative a few times on this forum. But nobody responds, perhaps people arent aware of it, and they are still thinking LPG and biodiesel. GTL and CNG are the way to go for current vehicles, and electric and hydrogen for future vehicles.

Actually, we have had threads discussing this many times and I have put up posts for forum readers wanting to see more of the tech details. Porl has made a sharemarket killing by investing in a company, LNC with this technology and his adventures on the stockmarket have also been discussed here. I keep arguing that our fuel tax $ have been wasted for the last decade and should have been used to set up the infrastructure to use this technology so it was in place when we are really hitting crunch price points. But I agree with you. CNG is more of a problem. Really only suited for very large vehicles or short trips because it takes more weight/space to store on a vehicle than LNG (I might be wrong about that, but that's my understanding)

It seems we have to provide the answer to the taxation problem, ie if you have the equipment to pump your own town gas for your vehicle, how can they maintain their tax revenue??....cheers,

Just been doing some googling. If I am reading it correctly, a tank of CNG on an average car type vehicle, will only do about 150km. Now we need to convince city dwellers to swap to this stuff and leave diesel for those of us who want to go bush.
